Swimming in the Hall's New Pool

Madison graduated from 8th grade, which I can't believe, and had a swimming party to celebrate.  Kevin and Mindy's pool was finished in April and this was our first pool party at their house.  I'm always nervous (I know surprise!) taking the boys swimming because we still haven't got them swimming without their life jackets.  And typically hanging onto me!  They both did amazing, yes still in life jackets, but both swimming around the pool, getting in and out by themselves.  I'll take that for a start of the summer and hopefully after our month of swim lessons they will both be more confident and jacketless! 

 

Our Little Allstar

Garrett was chosen as an alternate on the Tball All-star team.  To say he loves baseball would be an understatement! It's been fun to watch his love for this sport evolve.  He loves playing, watching, reading stats, and of course going to games.  He played great during the game and is excite to move up to coach pitch next year.

 

The boys coach for this season was helping coach the All-stars and a 9am game with Tballers calls for mimosas in our books, so of course I brought the adult beverage to quench our early morning thirst!  Janis has been an amazing coach and I am thankful that Gannon will more than likely be back on her team next year!

 

Gannon on the other hand was equally as thrilled to sit and play on my phone. 

 

 

Water Play

Hot days in the Valley can be fun when a water play area is around.  Across from the zoo there are little rides and this water area is in the middle.  Thank goodness we had swimsuits in the car from our hotel stay so they boys were thrilled to play.  We need to work on our farmers tans too so this was perfect!  The boys played for quite a while before warming up on the concrete.   

 

Fresno Zoo

After the run we took the boys to visit the zoo.  Dave loves to check out the exhibits and was curios to see the new sea lion exhibit.  We watched the see lion show and walked around checking out all the other animals.  It amazes me what Garrett remembers of places even though he hadn't been here in a couple years.  His little brain is sharp!  Trying to pet the sting rays was a little frustrating for Garrett because Gannon couldn't stay still for long enough for them to continue to swim by, he move and away they'd go.  Each boy eventually got a few feels in and were happy with that. 

 

Not My Favorite Half!

Taylor's boyfriend won an entry to the California Classic Half Marathon in Fresno and wasn't going to use it so they gave it to me.  A free half, sure! And thank goodness I didn't pay for it because I didn't love it, not all the races fault.  Since an attack on a runner in Merced I haven't been running outside much and it showed!  I was going along at a good pace to finish in 2 hours until about mile 7 then I started to fade and then got frustrated and threw in the towel.  I never stop running during a half and I was OVER this one so I stopped to go to the restroom in the zoo because they were nice restrooms instead of a port-a-potty and walked a few times.  Still finished with a 2:13, but not what I wanted.  The run wasn't my favorite course, although it did go through the zoo and past the new sea lion exhibit and the giraffe's it also had NO mile markers and had several switch backs through downtown Fresno.  I didn't appreciate either of the latter, looking down the side streets seeing runners going in each direction messed with my mind.  I know excuses, excuses, but I won't do that run again!  On a positive, it was my first race with my name printed on the bib!

 

Garrett loved waiting for me as much as I loved the run!

 

Tball Update

Tball season has come to a close, games at least! We still have closing ceremonies next weekend, but the games are over.  Garrett loved the entire season and Gannon was doing much better and enjoyed the game by the end of the season.  Garrett got really good at coach pitch as they transitioned the second half of the season and took his defensive positions to heart.  At their last game Gannon really wanted to play catcher, so we strapped on all the gear and he loved it!  We had a great coach (same as last year) and a great team of parents too.  Next year the boys have to play on different teams, let the crazy busy days continue!

 

Picnic in the Park

For my Dad's birthday we had a picnic in the park with Dianne, George, Syenna, and Aunt Deanna.  The kids had fun feeding the ducks/geese, playing on the play structure, and hitting the baseball.  It was the first weekend this year that the weather was really warm so we stayed for about 3 hours and had to beat the heat and get back in the car.  Grandpa enjoyed his time with the family so we'll have to remember this park for when the weather cools back down in the fall/spring.
