Swim Lessons

Swim lesson or actually parent and me classes started yesterday for the boys. Garrett was with Daddy and Gannon with Mommy. This is Garrett's second year and he did much better than last year. He was very excited to go to the pool and was talking about it all day. Gannon is our little water baby and of course loved every minute in the pool. The nice 104 degree weather actually worked well to heat the water so it was just right.

Cut it please

So Gannon was really starting to get a comb over and you all know I can't handle my little boys to not have a clean haircut, so off we went to see Ramero. Gannon actually did very well for his first time in the chair - not a peep.

Getting all ready
Yeah so much better
Check out that look - he wasn't too sure about the clippers
He had this totally confused look - a new one for us.

Oh No!!!

Garrett had his Barney downstairs and Gannon got ahold of it and had a smile ear to ear. Oh man, does that mean we have two plus years more of watching the purple guy!?!

Gannon's Update

Gannon had his 6th month check up yesterday and weights in at 19 lbs 11 oz and is now 28 1/2 inches - big boy. Marie & Sam had a breakfast for the staff this morning and I was telling them how he is not a fan of food and Marie said her nieces loved egg yokes and offered to cook one for him to try so she did. To my amazement he loved it. I guess he is too cool for baby food! Who knew!!! Thanks Marie.

Garrett's New Things

Garrett has been helping feed the cats for some time now so the other night when he wanted to help I opened the cabinet for him and let him do his thing. He was taking a lot longer than normal so I went to check his progress and look what I found...I think the bowl was full!!! Yikes.

As a special treat Dave will make pancakes on the weekends every once in a while. Well Garrett watched exactly how it was done the last time and now knows where everything he needs to make pancakes is. So our little freezer pancakes are surely not good enough anymore, he wants the red bowl, mixer and pancake mix EVERYDAY! I have decided it is a lot faster to just let him whip up a few pancakes than fight with him for an hour over not making them. Again, he is my child that wants his way. And of course the whole time all you hear is, I do it mommy, Garrett do it. He is so funny.

Pigs, pigs, and more pigs

Garrett and Gannon went to hang out at the fair on daddy's show day. Garrett loves hanging out with daddy, especially if it means working with the pigs.

As close as Gannon wanted to be to the big pigs

Garrett not too excited about petting the big pig

See mom this is my size pig - notice he is pointing to the spot he wants me to stand in!

Garrett's First Fair Exhibit

The fair will be fun memories for the boys as they grow up. Because you have to be 9 to show an animal, Garrett entered a bumble bee! Actually a painted watermelon to look like a bumble bee - with a two year old creative spin. Garrett won a first place ribbon for his creation.

At school with his bee
Yeah - first place - what else would you give a two year old!

Big Boy Bed

Garrett has been sleeping in his big boy bed now for about 10 months and has never slept on the top bed, he always sleep on the trundle part. It's closer to the ground and so a little safer if he falls which he hasn't done in a long time. So tonight when we were putting him to bed we asked if he wanted to sleep on the big bed and he was excited. So here he is fast asleep in the big boy bed and no the little pillow is not right in his face - trust me - I checked. Notice all the pillows we put up on the trundle to break the fall if he does roll off and really it would be a soft fall anyway - the trundle is pulled out. Some day that will be the next step. It so sad how fast they grow.

Gannon is 6 months old

Where does time go? I can't believe Gannon is already 6 months old. He started on food last week and really doesn't appreciate it. He is getting better at eating vs pushing it all out, but still not a fan of rice cereal and bananas. I guess that wouldn't be a very exciting meal, but compared to formula maybe? After a few bites he just sticks his thumb in his mouth and looks away, if he pulls it out long enough for you to try to get another bite in and he sees the spoons, there it goes right back in. So funny, if we could only hear what they are thinking. In the last couple of days he is starting to be able to sit up better, still leaning forward quite a bit. Gannon continues to be our little go with the flow baby. We go next week for his check up so I'll report his growing boy stats next week.

Mom - really I don't like this stuff
See I can sit up, yeah

Grandpa's 85th Birthday Party

Grandpa's 85th birthday is tomorrow so this past Sunday we got together for a little party for him. Garrett was of course so excited that Grandma cooked pacorn (popcorn) - he thinks all corn is popcorn! He also thoroughly enjoyed his slice of ice cream cake with the huge blob of pure sugar on top (balloon), well and I guess a little food coloring! I really think when we started to sing Happy Birthday he had flash backs to his birthday and thought we were singing to him, he had that shy look on his face. It was a great day.

Getting ready to sing.

Backyard Fun!!!

Garrett has never been a huge fan of his slide or pool, but put the two together and watch out. Mommy scored "Fun" points in Daddy's book for this one. Garrett must gone down the slide 50 times!!!

Gannon's New Chair

Gannon is growing so fast! He was quickly growing out of his baby car seat so check out his new seat. Garrett was so excited that Gannon's seat is just like his.

We started our 4th of July in AG, Dave's old stomping grounds. Garrett loved the swinging bridge, except for when I tried to go in front of him to take a picture, he blew a gasket! We grabbed sandwiches at the deli and had a picnic in the park next to the guitar player (farmers market was going on). Dave and I both had flip flops on so when we got on the blanket we kicked them off which of course meant Garrett wanted his toes out too. That is how you he has been asking for his shoes of lately - toes please. After naps for the boys we head to Joe and Shannon's in Shell Beach and hung out there to enjoy the firework show which you could see the Pismo fireworks from the Pier in Shell Beach - no fog thank goodness. It was a perfect day.

Garrett was totally enjoying Joe's BBQ - he loves corn on the cob.
Watching the fireworks show from Daddy's shoulders. Garrett was the narrator for the whole show.
Oh man he was so mad that Daddy wouldn't let him play with the fire!

Old Vienna

Mark, Susan & Andrew were also in Shell Beach for the 4th so we got together as a family and went to dinner at Old Vienna. Shannon we really wish you weren't working that night so you could actually join us at the table!

Me, Gannon & Dave

He really is my child - WOW

Garrett is definitely just like his mommy! When in SLO we hung out at the book store so I could feed Gannon. I was sitting in the cafe and thought I would walk over to the children's books and look what I found. Garrett had taken every Backyardigans and Wonder Pet from the shelf and very carefully lined them up side by side. He was very careful to make sure they were all facing up and were touching right next to each other. Sorry Garrett I guess you took after my anal organization, but I thought it was super cute!!! He must have done 4 or 5 different line ups by the time we left.

Starting a new line
How funny is this?

Remembering Michael

The night before the Price is Right we decided it would be sad to be in Hollywood and not pay tribute to Michael so we hoped on the Metro and headed to his star on Hollywood Blvd. Allison had never ridden public transportation so that was a fun new experience for her since Gram sat next to a pretty strange guy that wouldn't stop talking! Michael's star had a line down about 2 blocks and you had to stand in the line to be able to see the star. It was piled way high with flowers and such that fans had left for him.

Water Babies

Gannon continues to love the water and Garrett continues to not be a huge fan. The hotel had a pool so we spent an afternoon swimming with the boys. We thought Garrett might like the water more if he had a "beach jacket" so we took one for him to swim in - not much of a help!

Gannon just lovin the water, he could swim all day!
Garrett in his beach jacket not too sure
