Bowling

Bowling was also on our list of To Do's during Spring Break.  Garrett talked the entire way to the bowling alley about how he had been bowling when he was three and how he had a Mickey Mouse cake there too!  Yes, it was where we had Garrett's 3rd birthday party.  Man did they have fun bowling, with bumpers of course.  They did great taking turns sharing the light weight ball and waiting their turn for each of the family to go.  We explained that they had to wait for their name to appear on the screen and they were very good to watch and wait for their name. For the record...Mommy beat Daddy! Okay, just by one point!  It was fun and they were sad when we had to leave.

Yosemite/Snow Day

Dave and I had talked about taking the boys to the snow and to Yosemite over our Spring Break and I was a little hesitant because I think I was traumatized by our snow trip a couple of years ago!  Okay I know, get over it and go again.  After looking at the week ahead we decided Sunday would be the best day.  Dave found that Badger Pass has a little tube area so that was the plan.

We loaded up the car and off we went.  We are so thankful that we live within a couple hours of such a beautiful place.  I honestly think this was Gannon's first time to Yosemite and Garrett had been a couple of times.  They both loved it.  The walk to Yosemite Falls was a little wet, but of course Gannon loved the puddles!  Garrett and Gannon loved the snow and kept having Daddy make them snow balls.  Gannon walked more than half the way back with the same snow ball gently balanced in his hand.  Unusually for this guy to be so calm and gentle, but I guess for a snow ball it was worth it.

After eating lunch we headed over to Badger Pass to rent the tubes and have some good old snow fun.  Garrett was a little cautious as always to start tubing, but when he realized he would be riding with one of us he was fine.  Sitting on our bums was how it started then of course Dave tried to talk them into going on their bellies.  Garrett wanted no part of that...until Gannon did a few runs with Dad and he could see that it was really okay and fun.  Then Garrett gave it a shot and he too was in love.  Gannon is definitely our little dare devil, willing to try whatever!  I think if we would have walked the tubing hill all night they would have been content.  It was a great fun family day!

Game #1 for the Giants

Game #1 was pretty exciting and hilarious.  These kids are so dang cute.  Garrett was again very excited to get all dressed up in his uniform and head to the game.  I was thankful it was a Wednesday night game so Daddy would be able to join us! Gannon too got all ready in his Giants shirt and off we went.  Garrett and Gannon watch very closely as they prepared the field for the big game.  Just to share how cute and oblivious the kids are...the first little girl up to bat on our team hit the ball pretty good...and ran straight to second base! It was so cute.  Later in the game, Garrett was playing the pitching position and the coach told him to "stand right here" so when the ball was hit and landed 2 feet in front of him he just stood in that spot and smiled!!! It is seriously SO cute to watch these games and know that the kids are just having a great time.

Opening Day

Garrett was VERY excited for Opening Day of T-Ball.  He couldn't wait to get all dressed up in his uniform, pants, belt, and all!  I was glad the morning was going so smooth since we had to leave the house at 8:15 to be in Atwater and ready for pictures by 9.  We haven't used a stroller for a really long time, but I thought to keep Gannon contained during picture and the ceremony it would be a good idea to throw it in the car.  BAD IDEA! Garrett cried for the 30 minutes we waited in line for pictures because he wanted to sit in the stroller.  I love that all the other Mom's were trying to help by distracting him, but really he hates that and got even more pist.  Let's just say I was cussing my husband and really wishing I had something STRONG in my coffee! By the time pictures rolled round he was fine and took a great pictures, but man I wasn't sure I was ready for this season to start!

T-Ball Practice

Garrett's t-ball practice began in early March and he loves every minute of it!  His coach is a teacher with Dave at Atwater High and she and her assistants are fabulous with the kids.  Hilarious to watch them practice and fun to see how into it Garrett is.  He always makes sure on practice days he wears one of his Giants shirts (he's on the Giants) to school so that when we head to practice right after he is all set.  I have to say I think he loves wearing his cleats the most!  "They make me run so fast" he says.  It's fun to meet new families and enjoy watching all the kids play.

Gannon sports his Giant's hat to support his brother and really could care less about watching...he just wants to watch Mickey Mouse on Mommy or Daddy's phone.  (Thank you You Tube for having episodes available)  I know really bad to let him sit and watch TV, but the alternative is chase his around and not get to watch Garrett practice/play.

Spider Man Party Time

Garrett's request for his birthday party theme this year was Spider Man!  I wasn't too excited about the theme because I wasn't too sure how to decorate or what games I could do.  Well a little internet research and nice weather and both were figured out.  A cool spider web out of streamers and a bounce house...can't go wrong there.  Garrett and Gannon were both Spider Man for Halloween so they of course had to wear their costumes!

Our family and friends all came to celebrate Garrett's birthday and he even invited a friend from school to come.  The kids were excited to jump the majority of the time and after eating hotdogs and hamburgers, presents, and cake they all loaded up and took the short walk to the part to play a little baseball.  It was a fun day.  He even got a homemade cake and cupcakes from me.  Not too bad for a last minute throw together cake and cupcakes.

Happy birthday for Garrett, wine signs for me!

5 Years...I Can't Believe It

Garrett turned 5 years old!!! I can't believe how fast time has gone by.  He continues to be our little smarty pants and thought for sure the DAY he turned 5 he would be going to kindergarten.  He loves to learn and could do a math workbook or practice reading all day!  He has almost finished two kindergarten math workbooks now and catches on to patterns on pages very fast.  He vary rarely uses his counting blocks and typically does most of the counting verbally or with his fingers.  He has moved on to subtraction also.  For his birthday we got him another set of Bob's books and he loves to practice his reading.  To no surprise he has to read all books in order according to the color groups!  Soon we will be enrolling in kindergarten for the fall.

Garrett is also excited to play his first year of T-ball.  He will be on the Giants because the coach works with Dave and we wanted him to play on her team.

A quick walk down Garrett's memory lane.....
