On days that Garrett doesn't need a nap when Gannon does we often fill the time with games. Garrett loves to play lots of games that are no fun when his terror of a brother is awake. Candy Land is a favorite. This will be no surprise to many of you...
The board below is just like ours. Notice the four little people at the start of the game. The four colors to choose from as place holders in the game are green, yellow, blue, and red. Of the four little people none of them are wearing green, so of course we are NEVER allowed to use the green. "He doesn't have a spot!" per Garrett. Garrett is pretty good at this game and has figured out that with the special cards it can be anyones game at any point in the game. He knows that you can get almost all the way to the end and pull the Candy Cane card and you'll go all the way back to almost the beginning of the game. With this he never gets upset if I take a big lead at the beginning because I often am the one to get the cards to put me way back.
Yesterday, only offering to play this game rose him from is "sick" spot on the floor. Today, he was finally feeling better and it was Gannon's turn to be sick. Which meant that we couldn't get out of the house and therefore he wasn't too tired when nap time came around. I knew he didn't really need a nap so he stayed up and we played a few games, one of which was Candy Land.
