Columbia Falls, MT was our next stop and by far the easier drive so far. It was a short and beautiful drive from Missoula. We arrived just after lunch, set up camp, and thought we'd try to find some kind of water to play in. We saw the water slide park on the way in and found that at 3 they had twilight hours...perfect. We made sure the boys could bring their life jackets and that there was a kiddie section available, not knowing we wouldn't really need it.
I am amazed at how brave Garrett is this year in water. We started in the kiddie pool with the really small slide and saw that parents could ride the big slides with their kids on their laps. We gave it a try and the slides were slow enough that we thought we'd ask the boys if they wanted to ride alone and we'd catch them at the bottom. To our surprise they wanted to try. Garrett went first, with Dave at the bottom and me at the top. We would signal when one was sent down and the other would catch. Garrett did a couple then Gannon was ready to try. They both did amazing on the smaller white slides. Naturally they get boring so let's try bigger ones! There were 4 green slides and increased in speed. They had big dips and tunnels that still didn't scare the boys. We tried the 3 that allowed doubles together and then asked the boys if they wanted to go alone, of course they did. I was so excited that they were being so brave and very nervous at the same time. They did great and absolutely loved it.
There was a huge dip slide that was like giving yourself an enema that only big kids could ride so Dave and I took turns riding it. Gannon was screaming mad at the bottom because he wanted to ride it. I remember doing this same thing, but with roller coasters...our little dare devil.
Two and a half hours here and we were sure they would sleep great tonight!
